Elli and John Milan Artist Biography

“Travel and the couple’s young daughter are constant sources of motivation and inspiration for Elli and John’s art.”

The Milans are young professional artists who met and married in Honolulu, Hawaii and now reside in Queen Creek, Arizona.  They both received portfolio scholarships from Savannah College of Art and Design where they studied for two years, then completed Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees at the University of Georgia.

Elli has an eclectic range of styles and subjects all bound by a bright, rich palette mixed with earth tones.  Her artwork often reflects a dairy of her life experiences.  She is attracted to subjects that have a strong light quality, and often incorporates newspapers and paper scraps collected from her travels in her art.

John paints mainly in oil with a rich fall palette.  He has a background in mural painting.  His landscape style is influenced by the works of Corot and early California impressionists, with subjects often derived from his travel experiences.

Lanie Loreth Artist Biography

“To me art is about love and passion for what I do. The experience of creating art is alive and an intimate thing for me. I feel the end result for any artist must express their personality and viewpoint. Otherwise, the penciled lines and brushstrokes are just a rendering and not a work of art.”

According to Loreth, she always has had a passion for the fine arts and has been drawing and painting since her childhood. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Arizona State University and enjoyed a career as a graphic and environmental designer for more than a decade.

Her artistic style shows a strong influence from her many years spent in graphic design. It transcends from abstract to realism. Her strong understanding of color, composition and form is evident in her work. She enjoys working with mixed media and often combines handmade paper, natural leaves, flowers and grasses in many of her pieces. The medium she uses depends on the “story” she is telling in her painting or collage.

Chris Loren Artist Biography

“Viewing her work brings every sense to life, creating an expectation of the kiss of a mountain breeze, the scent of mesquite and sage in an oncoming storm, the taste of salt water on the tongue, or the visual explosion of color in the setting sun’s vast sky.”

Loren is best known for her vibrant landscapes that so accurately capture glowing light and shadow. Her paintings burst with abundant colors and powerful thick textures. Painting in the historic Plain Air style, she accurately creates what she sees and feels in her creative trips to the open air. A native of Portland, Oregon, she attended art classes at the local college and tried several different art forms. After moving to Arizona in 1998, Loren attended classes and workshops at the Scottsdale Artist’s School, then began to hike and paint in the desert that surrounds her home.

Hector D. Llamas Artist Biography

“Hector’s subject matter is diverse. He paints abstracts that at first glance
appear nonrepresentational, but are inspired by sunsets from the beaches of Mexico. His figurative work is full of movement, texture and layers of media, and his architectural work is rich in color much like the Mexican
villas he draws his inspiration from.”

Llamas was born in Pittsburg, California, and raised in the small border town of San Luis Rio Colorado in Sonora, Mexico. He completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in art education at Arizona State University and rediscovered his passion for his heritage while student teaching in Mexico.

He loves printmaking but has developed his own personalized painting and drawing style. Almost all of his color blending is done on the surface of the canvas with various media such as acrylic paint, oil pastel and conte crayon, a break from the rigid structure of classical printmaking.

Charles Lynn Berry Artist Biography

“I’ve always had an affinity for nature. We’re endowed as the protectors of this paradise we live in, and hopefully, I can stir things up and awaken people with this art.”

With eye-catching and conscious raising in equal measure, Berry’s artworks range from impressionistic landscapes to faithful depictions of animals in the wild.

Born in Missouri and reared in Detroit, he became interested in art at an early age. After successful careers as a corporate marketing and advertising executive and a graphic arts entrepreneur, he turned to painting full time.

His paintings capture a rare sense of immediacy and intimacy. “I try to draw people right inside the picture and make them feel as if they are actually there. If it is a painting of an animal, I want the viewer to feel like they can reach out and touch it; if it’s a landscape, they should feel like they can pick the flowers.”

Leland Beaman Artist Biography

“Through my eyes and onto the canvas, abstraction captures the spirit of the composition, and realism brings to life the soul and flesh of the subject. We create our environment, then our environment creates us. I hope my paintings will contribute to the joy, discovery, and appreciation of our surroundings.”

Life, according to Beaman is a process, not a series of events which he practices in the joyful strokes of color progressing toward a subject, moving and changing. Accurate detail is acknowledged, appreciated and blurred to enhance the radiance
of moving life.

Early in his career, Beaman painted with a safe and realistic technique. As he matured he felt constricted by the conformity. “My life evolved from needing a precise structure to desiring my own personal expression,” he said. “Abstraction sets reality to music by orchestrating colors on canvas like a musician arranged notes for a symphony. I hope to compose a harmonious blend, pleasing to the eye, but also exciting and stimulating to the soul.”
