When thinking about your next art purchase. Artwork that stands out in a room can leave an impression with the viewer long after it has been seen. Large pieces can make a big impact, but it is important that there is plenty of space surrounding the art. You want to make sure it has a clear line of sight in any key places such as doorways, living rooms, entryways entering into larger rooms etc. Use of color on the walls can also help make the art stand out. Consider using multiple pieces together on a wall to achieve a great focal point.

Art can become a great basis for conversation, debate, and reflection; art that makes a statement. Research the painting and the artist to get a good feel for the art. Once again, buy art that you love and you will love to talk about it.

Art Buying Tips

First thing to remember is to by what you love. Art that catches your eye, draws you in, moves you. Look at books, galleries, local art walks, museums, surf the net.

However it is best to go see the art. A photograph is great but it can not truly do the art justice. To see the texture of a brush stroke, the feel and color of the painting as it is displayed at different times of the day or night with lighting changes. Move around the art and view it from different angles as with 3d sculptures. All these things will affect the way you feel about the art. Remember, “Do you love it.”

Pay attention to the different styles you’re attracted to. Is it abstract, impressionism, sculpture? Do you like a particular artist? View as many art pieces of you can. The more you see will help give you confidence in your decision. Remember art can give you a lifetime a pleasure.

Nano Lopez: Master Sculptor from Tangent Media Group on Vimeo.

Nano Lopez is an artist gifted with the rare ability to see the world as a child sees it, with exploration, wonder, and creativity. He is deeply fascinated by the sometimes troubling mysteries of life and its inherent struggles.

In his artistic process, Nano integrates organic textures and synthetic, human made objects into his bronzes to create pieces of art that reflect the same depth and richness he sees in the world around him. Although colorful and whimsical, Nano’s work is anything but child’s play and invites careful, sustained viewing. The rich and intricate textures and bright colors are subtlety evocative of his native Colombia and of other Latin art, but his depth of understanding and free associations transcend culture and time. They describe a world beyond the borders of ordinary maps where an unfettered imagination allow nature, science, folklore and modern industrialism to exist seamlessly together. His work invites us to look at the world more carefully and discover for ourselves the rich interconnections of life. It reminds us that the miracle of life exists at all levels, from the patterns on a leaf to the profound mysteries of the universe.
